Paddlepaws Newfoundlands was founded in 1986 after the purchase of our first Newfoundland (Cassie).  We quickly became hooked on this outstanding breed and have been owned by them ever since.  Our first litter was born in 1990 after much planning and research. We breed only rarely, and only ever have a maximum of 4 Newfoundlands in our home at a time.
We have bred numerous Champions including Specialty Best In Show winners, Best in Group winners, a Grand Champion and Register of Merit title holder.
Joy (mum) and Megan (daughter) are who make up the Paddlepaws team (with some input and help from Wayne (dad)
Megan handles the dogs at any shows and has done since she was 11 years old.  Occasionally entering the Junior Handlers classes, Megan always placed or won the classes.  It was actually Megans childhood dream that saw the family become Newf fanatics after seeing a Newfoundland at an obedience trial when she was around 5 or 6 years old.
Our first Newfoundland was a mummies girl and would only go into the showring with Joy, so eventually a second Newf was found for Megan to call her own.  Greedy was given to us by Wendy Horey, and the obsession snowballed from there.

Megan also handles for others at times, and is often given difficult dogs to handle as she seems to have the 'knack' with these dogs and they behave for her (mostly)
Joy enjoys grooming the dogs and puts in a lot of time and effort behind the scenes to prepare the dogs for shows.
Wayne enjoys trying to teach the dogs bad habits...... ;)
We have now been owned by these stunning dogs for over 20 years, in fact, 2013 is our 27th year in  the breed.  Over the years, both Joy and Megan have been active in the Victorian Breed Club (Newfoundland Club of Victoria Inc) Joy was Secretary for many years and is currently Vice President.  Megan has been Assistant Secretary for a few years, and Secretary for a few years as well as serving as a Committee member for many years. Megan is currently the Show Secretary  Wayne is currently the club Treasurer.
